Governing Board Committees

The Governing Board has established the following committees composed of Society members to administer and carry out specific activities as described below.

  • Business Management Committee
Develops financial policies and the Society's annual budget, as well as oversees investments. For more information, contact patrick.donnelly@aocs.org.
  • Audit Committee
Assists the Governing Board in fulfilling its financial oversight responsibilities. Acts as liaison between the Society's independent accountants and the entire Governing Board. For more information, contact patrick.donnelly@aocs.org.
  • Nominating and Election Committee
The AOCS Nominating & Election Committee is responsible for developing a slate of candidates for election to the Governing Board in accordance with the Society’s policies. The Committee evaluates information submitted by applicants and interviews top candidates believed to be the best fit based on current needs of the Society. The Committee recommends a slate of candidates to the Governing Board for approval. In December of each year, the final slate of candidates is presented to the AOCS membership for ratification by mid-February of the following year. Candidates receiving more than 50% support from ballots cast will be installed as new members of the Governing Board during its meeting that takes place during the AOCS Annual Meeting & Expo.
  • Recognition Committee
Serves as a coordinating body and as an administrative agent of the Governing Board over all recognition programs including awards and honors that are not governed by the Society's Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws. Focuses on the financial health of the recognition program including reviewing award contracts and making recommendations. For more information, contact membership@aocs.org.
