About Our Programs
Scientists, researchers, and industry professionals around the world are advancing the science and technology of oils, fats, proteins, surfactants, and related materials.
The AOCS Foundation supports these pioneers in their groundbreaking discoveries and the development of innovative technologies.
Together, we are enhancing nutritional value, ensuring food security, promoting environmental sustainability, and improving health outcomes. Join us in shaping a healthier future!
Supporting the next generation of scientific innovators
In today’s rapidly advancing scientific world, the need for fresh ideas and innovative research is more critical than ever. Yet, many students and early career professionals lack the resources and support necessary to pursue their work.
The AOCS Foundation nurtures emerging scientific leaders by providing essential funding for student awards and programs. Through our efforts, we ensure that promising scientists receive the recognition and financial backing they need to advance their studies and make significant contributions.
The AOCS Foundation proudly supports the AOCS Honored Student Award and Thomas H. Smouse Memorial Fellowship Award.
The Foundation supports the work of AOCS members like Thilini Dissanayake, the 2024 Thomas H. Smouse Memorial Fellowship Award winner.
“My PhD research focuses on creating tiny delivery systems using hemp proteins extracted from hemp oil byproducts. We aim to use these proteins to develop new and sustainable food and health products. By using eco-friendly methods, we hope to reduce waste, protect the environment, and lower healthcare costs related to chronic diseases.
Joining AOCS stands out as one of the most impactful decisions I made during my academic journey.”
