AOCS offers 4 peer-reviewed scientific journals spotlighting research and reviews in the science and technology of fats, oils, surfactants, and proteins. Authors who publish in AOCS journals are eligible for awards recognizing their research contributions.

Volunteering

Short-Term Opportunities (1–5 hours/month):

Roles include:

  • Division Webinar Speaker
  • Technical Session Chair – Lead or Co-Lead
  • Annual Meeting Roundtable Participant
  • Award Nomination Reviewer

These roles are ideal for building your network, gaining hands-on experience, and getting involved quickly—with a lighter commitment and a meaningful impact.

You can support the development of technical programs, review award nominations, help coordinate webinars, and engage with students and peers at the Annual Meeting.

Leadership Volunteer Opportunities (3–8 hours/month)

Roles include:

  • Chair / Vice Chair (Divisions, Sections, Common Interest Groups)
  • Secretary (Education & Events / Membership Communications)
  • At-Large Representative
  • Student Liaison

Leadership roles are excellent for career visibility, professional development, and contributing your expertise to future generations. Lead initiatives, shape programming, coordinate awards and sessions, and represent your Division within AOCS.

AOCS members are enhancing sustainable food security in sub-Saharan Africa through two collaborative programs supporting regional oilseed processors. Volunteers opportunities are available.
