In September 2024, EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) released a report that concluded that hexane approval for food should be reassessed. In this seminar, Laurence Jacques will share key insights on recent and upcoming regulatory shifts in Europe and explore the timelines and trends shaping solvent use.
MEET THE INSTRUCTOR:
Laurence Jacques is a seasoned scientist and industry leader with more than 30 years of experience spanning technical innovation, operations, and regulatory navigation. A graduate of École Polytechnique and École Nationale Supérieure des Mines in Paris, she has spent the last decade focused on developing sustainable solutions for the extraction industry.
Since 2017, Laurence has led the EcoXtract® project, resulting in the creation of Ecomeo—a patented, plant-based solvent designed for lipophilic extraction. Now approved for food applications in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, Ecomeo offers a drop-in solution for existing extraction facilities with minimal modifications required. Her journey through the European regulatory approval process has equipped her with in-depth knowledge of how evolving policies impact businesses in food, feed, and industrial processing sectors.
