AOCS is proud to have contributed technical expertise to a five-day seminar in Algiers (June 7–11, 2026), helping advance oilseed processing and feed production across Algeria’s agricultural sector.

Alongside the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service, U.S. Soybean Export Council, University of Missouri, Soy Innovation Lab, and U.S. Embassy Algiers, AOCS members Grant Mitchell, Brent German, and Annette Donnelly helped deliver hands-on training to 60+ Algerian value chain stakeholders — including feed millers, processors, and poultry integrators — focused on optimizing soy processing for poultry production and edible oil extraction.

With Algeria among the fastest-growing markets for U.S. soy, programs like this strengthen trade ties while building real technical capacity where it counts.

Mark Shapiro , Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy, praised the program as a model of public-private partnership between U.S. and Algerian agricultural industries, underscoring its role in advancing economic opportunity and food security through trade.

This is what science in service of industry looks like: knowledge exchange, innovation, and global cooperation advancing food security.
