Certified Reference Materials (CRMs)
Genetically modified crops have been commercially available since the mid-nineties. Due to opposing views on genetically modified crops, laws governing importation of these crops vary. AOCS provides Certified Reference Materials for labs to test for the presence of genetically modified traits.
The European Commission (EC) has mandated that as of 2004, a validated published method for detecting a new genetically modified event and a CRM must be available before the EC will authorize a new crop. Several nations outside of Europe require grain and ingredients to be labeled as genetically modified when trait levels exceed mandated thresholds. AOCS CRMs are used by labs that perform those analyses.

This program is A2LA accredited to ISO 17034:2016. These CRMs are intended for use as quality control materials or calibrants in methods for the detection, identification and/or quantification of genetically modified events.
