Machine-Learning-Driven Raman Spectroscopy for Rap

Due to the great demand of edible oils worldwide, adulteration is a major issue. In this webinar, Hefei Zhao, a PhD candidate in the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will tell you about his research that tries to enhance the workflow efficiency and performance of Raman spectra through augmented detection of features. While Raman spectroscopy has been used to detect food quality and adulteration, manual spectral analysis still limits this technique to a time-consuming and low-throughput tool. In Zhao’s research, spectra from ten common types of edible oils with four independent biological replicates were collected. You’ll learn more about the implications of his results and how machine learning classification of Raman spectra is promising for practical rapid Raman detection in this webinar.
Correlation Between Detergency of Different Oily and Solid Non- Particulate Soils and Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Deviation (HLD)

In this webinar, Parichat Phaodee, PhD candidate at the University of Oklahoma, will explain how to utilize hydrophilic-lipophilic deviation (HLD) concept for designing detergency formulations. Since optimal detergency was found at widely varying salinities but hold at the identical HLD range between -3 and 0, HLD appears to be a valuable tool for designing detergency formulations. Detergency formulation and reformulation are challenging because detergency is dependent upon multiple factors, including the hydrophilic/lipophilic nature of the surfactant, stain and the nature of the surface. You’ll learn more about Parichat Phaodee’s research that evaluates the efficacy of the HLD approach to expedite the design of detergency formulation for soils with widely varying hydrophobicities (equivalent alkane carbon numbers [EACNs]).
