Corn Certified Reference Materials are now available!

AOCS Technical Services has collaborated with Monsanto Company (St. Louis, Missouri) to develop Certified Reference Materials (CRM’s) for MON 863 x NK603, MON 863 x NK603 x MON 810, and MON 88017 corn. The CRM’s, AOCS 0406-A; -B; -C; and -D, were prepared according to ISO Guides 30-35 and are intended to serve as a control group for third party testing of corn seed or grain for these transformation events.

The purity of AOCS 0406-A, non-modified corn, and AOCS 0406-B (MON 863 x NK603), -C (MON 863 x NK603 x MON 810), and -D (MON 88017) corn, was verified by DNA- (GeneScan USA, New Orleans, LA) and protein- (Strategic Diagnostics, Newark, DE, USA) based detection methods. Materials were ground by the Texas Engineering Experiment Station, Texas A & M University, College Station, TX, USA. The ground corn has been packaged (Illinois Crop Improvement Association, Champaign, IL, USA) under a nitrogen environment into 27 ml headspace vials containing 10g of ground material.
