Acceptance: Contracts and Author Guidelines

If, upon review, BSPC members and AOCS staff agree that your book project should be approved for publication, you will be contacted regarding contracts and timetables for your book. We will schedule your book around conferences or presentations receptive to your project, based on the length of the book you indicated in the proposal. Additionally, we'll discuss the best format for the work, royalties information, and transfer of copyright.

AOCS will also prepare a guide (pdf) for your authors to follow while writing and revising the final version of their manuscripts. This will also assist you (if you are the book editor) in making sure authors format their chapters according to AOCS standards. Some of the issues addressed in the author guidelines include:

• Formats
• Style details
• Reference style
• Image quality information
• Helpful sources for authors to reference
• Permissions information

Throughout this process, we encourage all authors and editors to maintain contact with AOCS staff to ensure that everything moves along smoothly.

Once the contract is signed, your book is officially slotted into our publishing schedule. At this point, AOCS production staff begins to prepare the project for publication!
