Short Courses.
(1) Lipid Oxidation and Antioxidants(.pdf) - November 1
Designed to assist participants in understanding the major factors that affect the stability of oil-bearing foods and how antioxidants can be used to minimize the effects of lipid oxidation and increase their stability as a basis for development of healthful products. Coordinated by Prof. Edwin Frankel (The University of California). Other presenters: Kathleen Warner, NCAUR USDA, USA; Han van der Broek, Kemin Food Ingredients, Singapore; Andrew Sinclair, Deakin University, Australia.

(2) Production of Margarines, Dairy Blends and Spreads (.pdf) - October 31 - November 1
This hands-on workshop will be coordinated by Brad Forrest and Paul Wassell, Danisco and Pernille Gerstenberg Kirkeby, Gerstenberg, Schröder.

Section Conference. November 2-3.

The Conference program will cover edible oil and ingredient supply, manufacture of fat-based products, nutritional research and other activities that support the industry.

The program will be structured to allow delegates to meet colleagues in a social environment to discuss matters of mutual interest. An area for the display of posters and products will support this environment.

Industry sponsors are very welcome and are also encouraged to display products. All sponsors will be acknowledged in the Program and during meeting functions. We are seeking sponsorship presently for the conference, with letters having been sent out in the past weeks. Sponsors at previous meetings have been extremely appreciated, and also have gained valuable exposure and considerable good will; this opportunity will continue.
