The objective of the Surfactants and Detergents (S&D) Division is to promote professional interest, communication, and competence of individuals interested in all aspects of surfactants and detergents. This objective is attained by discussion of the sciences and technologies associated with the development and production of surfactants and detergents. Topics include soaps, oleochemicals, formulation, manufacturing, marketing, detergency performance-test methods, processing, analysis, packaging, fragrances, and ancillary additives.

The S&D Division of the AOCS is the leading international organization serving individuals interested in the fundamental science, technology, and application of surfactants and detergents.

Junior Faculty Travel Grant

This program was established to enable junior level faculty to attend the AOCS Annual Meeting & Expo in order to participate in the S&D Division sessions.  The grant would provide part of the necessary funds to attend the AOCS Annual Meeting & Expo and hopefully encourage the recipients along with their students to become active in the Division and the Society.

Surfactants and Detergents Survey
At the request of the S&D Division Board, AOCS sent a member satisfaction survey to 895 individuals (S&D Division members, AOCS members with an interest in surfactants and detergents, and past annual meeting attendees with an interest in S&D topics). We had about 100 returned as "undeliverable." We had 161 responses, about a 20% response rate. Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey. The results are included in the documents below.

Heads-Up on Green Seal's GS-48 Standard  

Though this announcement is not an endorsement from the Division, members should be aware of the development of a new standard and are encouraged to get involved in the discussion.  

Green Seal™, a non-profit organization, sets environmental leadership standards to help consumers identify and choose environmentally preferable products and services.  Green Seal is initiating the development of a new standard on Laundry Care Products (GS-48) and inviting you to participate in the development of this standard.
