| Greetings from the Chair |
Here we are, only a few weeks from the Annual
Meeting and I want to take this opportunity to inform
you of our Division’s plans in St Louis. We have an
excellent program lined up covering a variety of
interest areas this year. Sessions include:
Phospholipids in Drug Delivery (2 sessions),
Enzymatically Modified Phospholipids, Regulatory
Issues/Allergenicity in Soy Based Products (joint with
PCP Div), General Phospholipids and a poster session.
Thanks go out to our session chairs for putting
together such an excellent program.
This year we
will be seeing some changes to the normal schedule
of activities prior to the start of the meeting. The
ILPS Board meeting will be held in Room 261 on
Sunday, April 30th from noon-1:30 (attendees are
urged to bring their lunch or dine prior). The
Phospholipid Roundtable discussion will be held in the
same room immediately after from 1:30-2:00. We
welcome and encourage all Phospholipid Division
members to attend the Roundtable, as this is when
we do our brainstorming for ideas for future technical
programming. The Phospholipid Div Board meeting will
follow in room 222 from 2:00-3:00. This year, all of
the AOCS Div Boards will hold their meetings at the
same time in the same room (222). Our luncheon
meeting will be Monday, May 1st, from 12:00–2:00
p.m. in Room 280. The speaker this year is Dr. Paul
Van der Meeren, co-recipient of the 2005
Phospholipid Division Best Paper Award. Best paper
award this year was presented for the
publication “Influence of Hydrolyzed Lecithin on
Protein Adsorption and Heat Stability of a Sterilized
Coffee Cream Simulant" by Van der Meeren, P., El-
Bakry, M., Neirynck, N., Noppe, P. Students can
attend the lunch for only $10, so please encourage
all the students you know who will be at the meeting
to join us.
See you in St. Louie!

works toward international cooperation in this field by
bringing together scientists from around the world to
share information about phospholipids and lecithins.
The Division works to unite professionals to research
and understand the following areas related to
phospholipids: physical and chemical methods used to
quantify lecithins; practical applications in baking,
confections, meats, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals;
and improvements in making emulsification systems.
The Division maintains a close working relationship
with the International Lecithin and Phospholipid
Society (ILPS netlink:
