Time flies! It is time for another newsetter. Wow! Retirement for me is sandwiching in an article for the newsletter between painting, working out, and getting ready to go to Alaska. Not only is it flying by, it is difficult to realize that it has been nearly six years since I retired. I have been kept busy by AOCS activities, Toastmasters, and travel.

I thank past Chairpersons George Falb and Kim Koch, and current Chairperson Marge McCutcheon, for all of the encouragement and support that has been showered upon me these past six years.

I will be the editor and am looking forward to it! So far, it has been easy because most everyone has submitted a column or an article.

Getting back to Alaska, I'm heading to Vancouver, BC, Wednesday August 30, at 11:59 PM by Amtrak. I will arrive Friday morning at 11:40 AM. We will have quite a group onboard the ship: Marge and Dave McCutcheon, Marge's mom Lucille, Glenn Kobata, and several of the McCutcheons' friends from back east. We will be celebrating Marge & Dave's 25th Anniversary. Wow! Time flies! In later editions I will include pictures and a brief travel log.

We will be starting the new edition of our Microscopy Manual very shortly. You will be hearing more news about this in later editions of our newsletter. Hope to hear news from all of you, because it will make my job much easier.
