AOCS Annual Meeting May 13-16 in Québec City
This year's Annual Meeting offers Surfactants and Detergents Division members a robust technical program and four networking events.

The technical program is online, including oral presentations and poster presentations. Updates and other conference information can be found at the official Annual Meeting webpage.

The Surfactants and Detergents Division is sponsoring a plenary lecture by Thomas Dorr, Undersecretary of the USDA. The lecture, entitled "Bio-based Alternatives to Chemical Feedstocks for Surfactants and Detergents," will be held Tuesday, May 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The Division is also sponsoring a Hot Topic Symposium called "Bio-based Alternatives to Chemical Feedstocks," featuring a panel of leading researchers and industry representatives. The panel will explore the current state of the art in bio-refining and biomass conversion and what the future may hold for biological routes to surfactant and detergent feedstocks. This event will be held Tuesday, May 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Division, in collaboration with the Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA), is offering a Cleaning Products Intermediate Formulations Short Course on Thursday, May 17th. Details, including the agenda, will be posted on the Annual Meeting website when they are available.

Remember to sign up for the Surfactants and Detergents Division Luncheon when registering for the meeting. The luncheon will be Tuesday, May 15, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The speaker will be Rosen Award winner Jeffrey J. Scheibel, Principal Scientist at the Procter and Gamble Company. His lecture is called "The Impact of Feedstocks on Future Innovation in Surfactant Technology for the Detergent Market."

Other Surfactants and Detergents networking events include the Roundtable Discussion Monday, May 14, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., which is designed to allow input on future Surfactants and Detergents technical programs; the Board Meeting Sunday, May 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; and the Networking Reception Tuesday, May 15, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

AOCS Honored Students Linh Do, of the University of Oklahoma, USA, and Jessica Yuan, of the University of Toronto, Canada, will be presenting during the technical program.
