Thank you for attending the XIV Latin American Congress and Exhibition on Fats and Oils. I hope you enjoyed the Congress, beautiful Cartagena, and the kindness of the Colombian people. I also hope that you not only gained knowledge, but also took advantage of the unique networking and business opportunities that this Congress offered. Over 500 delegates attended this event from over 34 countries, making it the most well-attended Latin American Congress in the past few years.

I want to again thank the AOCS team for the logistics and organization; the Latin American Section of AOCS and the cooperating organizations of ASAGA, CORCHIGA, and SBOG for their help in promoting the Congress; and especially  FEDEPALMA for all of their help in designing the technical program and in choosing high-quality teams for the Scientific Committee and Session Chairs. My thanks and appreciation also goes to the Scientific Committee and Session Chairs for their time and energy spent on putting together an excellent technical program. This was no small task, considering the 80+ speakers who delivered important and practical information over the two-and-a-half days of presentations.

I want to also thank the exhibiting companies for taking part in this Congress to bring technology and information to the delegates via the exhibition. It was well-received and also enhanced the overall Congress experience.

I believe many of us attending the Congress benefit from the large amount of scientific and practical information that was presented. We made a special effort on this and in presenting an adequate balance between the scientific and the practical content. Also I hope all of those who attended the closing plenary not only enjoyed it, but also went home with a reflection to do a better job on balancing work and life, which is no easy task for those who are passionate for what they do. I believe we are integral persons: we have to continually work not only on the intellectual side but also on the personal side.

Again, thank you for attending the XIV Latin American Congress and Exhibition on Fats and Oils and for making it a big success. We hope to see you in Chile in 2013 for the 15th!
