Message from the Chairperson
Dear LOQ Division Members,
It has been two years since I took the LOQ Chairperson position. During the past two years, I was very fortunate to be supported by division committee board members and by many passionate members like you. In 2012, we established LOQ Best Student Poster Award. The division raised ~$9,000 sponsorship from generous corporations to support various division activities. Thanks to the hard work of technical session chairs, LOQ’s technical session programs during annual meetings were always strong. The division was blessed by continued sponsorship from Kalsec, Inc. and from Bunge Oils for Edwin Frankel Best Paper Award and for Best Student Poster Award, respectively. Overall the division is currently in very good shape both financially and membership-wise.
The new executive committee will be installed in Montréal during this year’s division committee meeting. I wish them continued success and bringing LOQ to the next level.
Annual Meeting Technical Program
LOQ has a unique technical program this year, focused on the following areas of lipid oxidation research: marine oil oxidation, managing oxidation of real foods, novel antioxidants and assessment of rancidity. LOQ was able to bring a number of highly qualified speakers, highlighting today's recent advances from both academia and the industry.

Annual Meeting LOQ Social Event
Many LOQ executive committee and committee members will have to arrive in Montréal on Saturday, April 27th in order to participate in Sunday meetings. Every year the board tries to get together for a social activity on the Saturday before the meeting starts. This year, the board has decided to take a walking tour around Old Montréal (Vieux Montréal), followed by dinner at one of the popular local restaurants. Old Montréal is located very near the hotels and convention center. For information about Old Montréal, visit the website: http://www.vieux.montreal.qc.ca/tour/eng/0cartea.htm. All LOQ members and friends/family that will be in town on the Saturday prior to the meeting are invited to participate in this casual and fun social gathering. Details on meeting time and location and dinner location will follow by email. If you’re interested, please email Jill Moser.
